The Meadow: Creative Workspace Fit Out
Client: The Meadow
Location: Southbank, Melbourne
Hello City’s first ever job was advising on the theming and fitout of an extraordinary market research and creative workspace facility in Melbourne’s Southbank. Seven rooms in the 1850s malthouse were transformed into beautiful spaces, each telling its own story. We used the theme of man’s relationship to nature to define themes, using concepts such as the naturalist’s study, hunting lodge, city garden and a clearing in the forest.
We then went out and found the items that could help us tell these stories. We focussed on items that were vintage, handmade or carried some kind of meaning. To date, this is still the only job where we have got to trawl the vintage shops of Melbourne and Camberwell Market at 7am on a Sunday morning with a shopping list that reads “killim rug, sparrow salt and pepper shakers, chesterfield armchairs, map cushions, squirrel nutcracker, old encyclopedias, horse lamp”.
Finally we brokered the relationship with amazing Melbourne artist Julia Gorman to create a beautiful entry statement artwork.
If you’re looking for somewhere to hold market research, workshops, away days or casual working, we totally recommend this beautiful, functional and inspiring space.
